- Read a book a month in areas that you do not normally consider.
- Start each day with a gratitude session. Write down 5 things to be grateful for; sit with the list and really appreciate them. Share your list with people you care about.
- Start each day with an inspirational reading. It may be poetry, spiritual, wise words or quotes. Clip the ones that have the greatest meaning for you and assemble them in a book. Use the book to hold our gratitude statements, meaningful readings and other things that help you start the day with the right focus.
- Read the book The Secret and spend time trying to understand and live the power of attraction. Envision what you want from life, develop a plan and work your plan each day to achieve your vision.
- Allow yourself to invent the most extraordinary life and consider living it. Brainstorm with loved ones about a life “raised to a power” and how to achieve it.
- Consider hanging some of your inspirational quotes around the house or office to constantly remind you of the need to stay focused on the positive.
- Be aware of your thoughts – and work to create positive thoughts. We each have a voice in our heads that mostly sends negative messages to us about the things that are not done, done well or other “shoulds’. Get good at silencing this voice and start appreciating yourself, the things you do and how you impact others.
- Tell your internal critic to take the week off and only think about positive events.
- Write down the 5 most influential and positive people you know. If they are famous, read a book about them. If they are not yet famous, call them and ask about them…what they think, how they live and other things that impress you about them. Know that all the wisdom we need to be great is already here…just in the minds and lives of other people. Our job is to watch and learn.
- Spend time reviewing the Self-Help section of a book store. Read the titles and for a few that strike you, imagine how you would write the book to help others. This helps you appreciate the great things that you have and are.
- Attend a seminar or meeting on writing poetry, meditation, photography or something else that stretches the artistic and imagination side of the brain.
