Memories are powerful things. And the Holidays are filled with memories. My best memories are always around food, so in the spirit of tradition, the holidays, being Italian and loving food, I offer you my Twelve Days of Christmas Food.

The Twelve Days of Christmas Food (sing along – you know how it goes).
On the first day of Christmas, my Italian Nonna made for me,
A fruitcake (I will have to give away).
On the second day of Christmas my Italian Nonna made for me,
Two breadsticks and a fruitcake (I will have to give away).
On the third day of Christmas my Italian Nonna made for me,
Three spicy pizzas, two breadsticks and a fruitcake (I will have to give away).
On the fourth day of Christmas my Italian Nonna made for me,
Four artichokes, three spicy pizzas, two breadsticks and a fruitcake (I will have to give away).
On the fifth day of Christmas my Italian Nonna made for me,
Five pots of sauce (ok gravy)…four artichokes, three spicy pizzas, two breadsticks and a fruitcake (I will have to give away).
On the sixth day of Christmas my Italian Nonna made for me,
Six bowls of pasta, five pots of sauce (okay gravy) …four artichokes, three spicy pizzas, two breadsticks and a fruitcake (I will have to give away).
On the seventh day of Christmas my Italian Nonna made for me,
Seven Christmas fishes, six bowls of pasta, five pots of sauce (okay gravy)…four artichokes, three spicy pizzas, two breadsticks and a fruitcake (I will have to give away).
On the eighth day of Christmas my Italian Nonna made for me,
Eight ricotta pies, seven Christmas fishes, six bowls of pasta, five pots of sauce (okay gravy)… four artichokes, three spicy pizzas, two breadsticks and a fruitcake (I will have to give away).
On the ninth day of Christmas my Italian Nonna made for me,
Nine baked ziti, eight ricotta pies, seven Christmas fishes, six bowls of pasta, five pots of sauce (okay gravy)… four artichokes, three spicy pizzas, two breadsticks and a fruitcake (I will have to give away).
On the tenth day of Christmas my Italian Nonna made for me,
Ten cream cannoli, nine baked ziti, eight ricotta pies, seven Christmas fishes, six bowls of pasta, five pots of sauce (okay gravy)… four artichokes, three spicy pizzas, two breadsticks and a fruitcake (I will have to give away).
On the eleventh day of Christmas my Italian Nonna made for me,
Eleven veal cutlets, ten cream cannoli, nine baked ziti, eight ricotta pies, seven Christmas fishes, six bowls of pasta, five pots of sauce (okay gravy)… four artichokes, three spicy pizzas, two breadsticks and a fruitcake (I will have to give away).
On the twelfth day of Christmas my Italian Nonna made for me,
Twelve pans of lasagne, eleven veal cutlets, ten cream cannoli, nine baked ziti, eight ricotta pies, seven Christmas fishes, six bowls of pasta, five pots of sauce (okay gravy)… four artichokes, three spicy pizzas, two breadsticks and a fruitcake (I will have to give away).
