Make Every Penny Count - Monday

On September 29, 2008 in Thought for the Day

Our financial world is changing before our eyes. Its uncertainty has reminded us of how we must be fully in control or our financial house – at home and at work. So this week, let’s review a few ways that when we spend, we spend wisely. Let’s review ways to spend that generate great returns; let’s see how we can amplify the effect and make every penny count.

Today’s tip: Education is still the greatest investment. We are in an intellectual age and the more employees know, the more value they can build. So instead of cutting spending on learning, require that when employees participate in internal or external education, they must create an action plan and quantify the impact of the difference they can make with the new information. Hold employees more accountable to develop practical, performance-based skills that make a difference. The return? Increased learning, greater ideas, more contribution and increased loyalty.

More ideas tomorrow.
